Never forget to have fun
Over the years, I have met my share of enthusiastic, fun loving car guys. One incident that especially comes to mind took place in the Midwest, (too many years ago to confess the number). It took place in a major city at a hotel that was hosting, what I remember to be some sports car club gathering. I wasn’t there as an attendee or spectator, but became a spectator unwittingly as there was a guy that was tearing around the halls in a go-kart! Of course, this was causing people to come out of the restaurant and bars to check out this spectacle. Outside of the convention area, in those large wide hallways, there was plenty of room for everyone to enjoy the spectacle of this handsome guy, having a wonderful time with everyone. The hall was lined with people holding their beers and assorted cocktails, laughing and having a great time watching this crazy, fun loving, car guy dressed in racing gear, (sans helmet), as he drove around the hotel hallways. I don’t remember that he had any competition, after all it appeared to be an impromptu performance. Who was having more fun? The driver or the spectators? Who cared?
It was the great Paul Newman. 1925-2008.
