Mobile-friendly, new German car repairs and service website
Thursday, April 23rd, 2015

The Driving Machine launches its new, mobile-friendly website!

We’re happy to announce that our new website is up and running!
After feedback from our customers and web visitors, our goal was to create a website that is:

Mobile-friendly
Easier to navigate
More visually appealing
More engaging

The new site is categorized by type of car, so, if you drive a Mercedes, for example, you can click on the Mercedes tab and you’ll see a description of services and the additional Mercedes-specific information in the left sidebar.

Reviews from our customers are easily accessible as well as the ability to submit a review (greatly appreciated!).
And, please join us on any of our social networks to read useful tips, catch up on industry news, or enjoy a funny cartoon!

Online appointments can be scheduled from any device or from …

News from the Team
Tuesday, March 11th, 2014

Axel continues to thrive in the competitive atmosphere and we cannot wait to see what lies ahead. But, for the past few months, the tales (pun intended) of Axel are somewhat less active these days as he takes a breather from dog show season. One of his and Dutch’s favorite things is to go to Carmel. There, they can strut their stuff on the sidewalks and stop traffic wherever they go. They have such a beautiful presence about them. Gorgeous dogs, they are! Loving care from Rick and his wife, Mary, guarantees Happy Dogs.

Two Classic German Cars and the American Who Made Them Happen
Friday, November 8th, 2013

Max Hoffman's influence on Mercedes and BMW of today.

Two Classic German Cars and the American Who Made Them Happen
German-made cars always have been some of the most durable and innovative in the international market. Manufacturers like BMW and Mercedes have become synonymous with speed, exceptional engineering and longevity.
When BMW and Mercedes engineers promote their newest creations, it seems as though they were born to eat, sleep and breathe car designing. Although Mercedes and BMW are thoroughly German, an American helped create two of their most iconic models.

Steve Jobs, We Thank You.
Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

I think it’s fair to say, that it is a sad day in Cupertino. Just a few months ago, we were excited to see the vision of Steve Jobs new Apple campus (dubbed by the press as “the Spaceship”) come to life at our weekly City Council Meeting. Today he resigned as CEO.
According to his statement he believes that great days are ahead for Apple. We thank him for his contributions to Cupertino, the world and to our success in the community. We wish him peace as he transitions to another phase of his life. Bless you, Steve.

Fault codes: putting the blame where it belongs and saving money
Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

Most BMW, MINI Cooper owners or any owners of a modern car, know that the engine’s system can register fault codes or trouble codes. There is a misconception by many in the general public, that a simple scan of faults tells the technician exactly what to replace. Not true in most situations.
Here’s just one example; A fault code indicating a low total “cat efficiency” (catalytic converter) does not necessarily mean that a catalytic converter replacement would be necessary or even fix the problem! By performing an additional test of the cat with a gas analyzer, a tech will measure the efficiency of the catalytic converter. Yes, there were other problems with the BMW that affected …

Thank you and Happy New Year!
Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

As we close out 2008, we want to once again thank you, our BMW and MINI owners. Thanks also to our wonderful group of dedicated, talented people, here at The Driving Machine. We know we have the best team around. That combination keeps us going strong after 28 years, and we hope that we have helped you.
Because we love the marque, of course, all BMW’s are great to us. We have had years 1972-2008 of BMW’s at our shop this year. We have enjoyed special vintage BMW’s, a beautiful ’72 CSL, Z8’s, a few Alpina’s, some fast M5’s, M3’s and of course, just about every BMW in between. Our MINI client base continues …

Never forget to have fun
Sunday, September 28th, 2008

Over the years, I have met my share of enthusiastic, fun loving car guys. One incident that especially comes to mind took place in the Midwest, (too many years ago to confess the number). It took place in a major city at a hotel that was hosting, what I remember to be some sports car club gathering. I wasn’t there as an attendee or spectator, but became a spectator unwittingly as there was a guy that was tearing around the halls in a go-kart! Of course, this was causing people to come out of the restaurant and bars to check out this spectacle. Outside of the convention area, in those large wide hallways, there was …

Opinions galore: can you tell truth from lies?
Saturday, August 2nd, 2008

Who rates the Internet “rating” companies? The number of rating services on the Web is becoming outrageous. Not just the number, but the relentless push for market share, which means targeting someone like us. We are bombarded all day long, with e-mails, phone calls, wanting us to pay for “exposure”. Good exposure, but also fraudulent exposure on the Web. This is at the same time we are being told to “adapt” to the new social networking and ante up.
There are countless review websites that allow anything to be said, whether it is accurate, or truthful, completely false, appropriate or inappropriate. Even ones business listing can be inaccurate, and there’s not much anyone can do …
