Check Engine Light Issues
Friday, March 9th, 2012
It is true the check engine on the dash will sometimes turn off if you keep driving, but that does not mean that your BMW, MINI or Mercedes ahs healed it’s problem. Unfortunately, some drivers seem to believe that it will “just go away” if they wait long enough.
All the while fault codes are being stored, adaptations are happening in the systems, and one component being out of spec is affecting another and the situation is exacerbating. Your BMW or MINI will only “self-heal” for so long and then it’s time for some health care.

The catalytic converter on your BMW, your VW, Mercedes, MINI or just about any other car is very specific to your particular vehicle. They are in most cases very reliable until they reach a certain age/mileage or if they have been abused by poor maintenance, such as the failure to replace oxygen sensors, or a severe overheat condition.
