Kicking the tires
In some cases, if you have a puncture in a tire that is due to a nail, or screw, (those construction guys are dropping nails everywhere!), it can usually be repaired. The tire repair technology is much better than in earlier years. But, it does take a little time to do it right. It is now a “plug/patch/glue” system, (not just patch). It will keep your “speed rating”, in most cases.
We’ve noticed that some tire stores are advertising free tire repair. Just keep in mind that your tire may not be fixable. You may need 2 new tires after all, if they are worn out.
It is not recommenced to repair the “run flat” tires when they get a “puncture”. These tires are pretty expensive, and if you are considering purchasing these as an option when you purchase your new car, do your research. The run flat technology is a great idea, but like all technology, you have to determine if it is right for you, your situation, and your budget.
