Shine on, my BMW! – keeping the numbers straight
For some of us, springtime means spiffing up the BMW with a detailed cleaning of the interior and exterior. Of course, after this detailing is complete, it just a matter of time before a bird does a “number” on your exterior paint. And that number is usually, #2.
You will want to gently, very gently remove those droppings as soon as possible, to avoid damage to your paint. To avoid any abrasions, always begin with clean water, a wet paper towel, (or small disposable cloth). Place the wet paper towel gently on the spot and saturate the droppings in the area with the clean water. The idea is to get it almost completely liquefied and then very gently “blot” it up into the towel. Do not rub! Never rub any type of dirty spot or bird droppings on your paint. This can lead to those swirly marks on your paint, and will bring us to tears! After you have gently and successfully removed the bird stuff, wash your BMW as usual.
And no, it does not help to drive your BMW faster to avoid bird droppings. (Don’t even go there)
