Reading your BMW’s mind with “code reader” – save your money
Gals and guys, if anyone of you is thinking of getting your BMW lover a “code reader”, for Christmas, STOP! Unless, you have tens of thousands of dollars to spend, you will not be getting your money’s worth. Seriously. A good independent shop is going to use the BMW tool for access, coding and reprogramming. No, these do not come cheap. They are not tools that you may find on-line or at your Kragen, Auto Zone, etc., store. Don’t even think about it.
But, don’t just take our word for it. One of our favorite techies, Mike Miller, (BMW Car Club, Tech Talk columnist), in the November, Roundel magazine, answers the “code reader” question more than a few times. Not sure why this is such a hot topic recently, but does this have to do with one looking for that very special gift for your BMW enthusiast? We understand that floor mats, car covers, sweatshirts or BMW caps, just aren’t that sexy sounding. But, an electronic fault code reader, sure sounds sexy. NOT!
