Recall -sshhhhmmmeeeeeee call. I will always love my BMW.

Maybe it’s due to the Toyota fiasco in dealing with the problems, but, it appears some car makers seem to be a little more on-board with getting the facts to NHTSA and dealing with all of it ASAP. There are a lot of recalls out there and it’s not just BMW’s, for sure.

Within a few days, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration should have more info on the recall by BMW of both BMW and Rolls Royce due to a leak in the power brake system. You will be able to go on their site and check the specifics for your BMW to see if it’s part of the recall.

The word right now, is that “BMW is preparing to recall”…It is estimated that there will be about 198,000 with the majority of course, being the BMW’s rather than the Rolls. You are notified by BMW in the event of a recall and will be directed to a dealership for the remedy.

MINI’s are also being investigated due to 54 drivers complaints to NHTSA that drivers suddenly lost power steering. We’ll see how this turns out, but NHTSA as of today has not formally notified BMW, (assuming our source is accurate). It appears to be a power steering pump failure at this time.

In both scenarios above, the drivers have been able to stop and also steer, but without the power assist of the respective systems of either. At this time, it appears there have been no injuries and that’s the good news. Actually that’s GREAT news.
